Erasing Violence: Saving Our Precious Children, press conference and community rally, The Urban Child Institute, 9:30 a.m. New data on children and violence and new initiatives to address prevention and children’s safety. Free; public invited. Hosted by Erase Domestic Crime Collaborative.  

Studio on the Square, 4 p.m., discussion panels, viewing of “Precious” and conversation with community leaders about how to increase services for family crime victims. Hosted by Memphis Area Women’s Council and Erase Domestic Crime Collaborative – Exchange Club Family Center, Family Safety Center, Memphis Child Advocacy Center, Memphis/Shelby County Domestic Violence Council, Memphis Shelby Crime Commission, Shelby County Crime Victims Center and Shelby County Office of Early Childhood and Youth. Special thanks to Malco Theatres and Gold Strike Casino.

Thursday Oct. 14Humane Society animal cruelty training for law enforcement. Memphis Area Women’s Council board member Dr. Owen Phillips presents on link between animal cruelty and family/domestic violence at lunch.
